I'm a Kenyan diaspora software engineer based in Manassas, Virginia, building what I call "decision infrastructure for East Africa" — a portfolio of open-source AI tools, MCP servers, datasets, and agents that make the benefits of AI accessible to Swahili speakers across Kenya and the broader East African region.
The core thesis is simple: the most transformative AI applications for East Africa will not be translations of Western products. They will be built by people who understand the institutional context — how M-PESA actually works, what KCSE exams test, why land fraud is endemic, how county government functions, what pastoralists actually ask their veterinarians. I am one of those people, and I build accordingly.
I was the first documented engineer to implement all three major AI agent protocols — MCP (Model Context Protocol), A2A (Agent-to-Agent), and Google ADK — for East Africa. mpesa-mcp, my M-PESA MCP server, reached PyPI v0.1.9 with 400+ downloads across 12 countries without any marketing, purely through developer discoverability.
The portfolio now spans 110+ open-source repositories covering financial inclusion, health, legal access, civic accountability, agriculture, education, environment, housing, transport, trade, mental health, emergency response, refugee services, and informal sector tools — all in Kiswahili, all deployable today.
Alongside the civic tech work, I maintain Quantum Maestro — a 6,000+ line options trading education and execution platform built on the IWT (Invest with Teri) framework. Technical credibility demonstrated across both domains: developing-world AI infrastructure and first-world quantitative trading tools.
I am actively seeking collaboration with researchers, funders, and organizations working on African language AI, digital public infrastructure, and financial inclusion technology. I have applied to the LINGUA Africa grant (Microsoft AI for Good Lab × Gates Foundation × Masakhane Hub) and am registered in the awesome-mcp-servers index.
Open to collaborations, research partnerships, grant co-applications, and advisory roles in East African AI and fintech.
